I’m enjoying the potential of GB!
Thanks for the feedback on my last demo, spent twenty minutes starting this one

That was great!
Did you use the new sequencer for the drums, and if so how did you go about creating such variety? Individual sequenced bars on separate layers?
At first I thought I was listening to a remix of the classic Knight Rider tune
Those drums are wierd.. not a classic boom bap, sped up or breakbeat. oddly addictive.

Thanks! Beat Sequencer in GB is the best option on iOS for true electronica programming as it’s fast, punchy and easy to add variety on the fly
Just experiment with it , it’s simple but under the hood, GB has more than we originally thought as @Samu knows

There's quite a lot under the hood indeed..
Even tweaking synths sounds works once it 'clicks' which patches use the different synthesis methods.
Touch-Instruments can be 'automated' but argggghhh I miss the option to edit the automation
(When that comes it's a pretty safe bet we'll get AUv3 automation and support for AUv3 Midi too).Being able to render a midi-section to audio would make re-sampling super easy too.
(Just drag the audio to a sampler track and BOOM).Love the full-screen EQ with spectrum analyser, non-destructive quantise and well there's a lot to like in there hehe..

@Samu I wish you could team up with @thesoundtestroom and do some in-depth GB vids
Many don’t know about these hidden features and would benefit from GB

Who am I kidding, I too would like automation curves!

That would just take put all the fun exploration one can do in GarageBand.. I guess it’s old news that one can change the articulation of the notes recorded with smart strings.
I’ve not yet fully dug into the chinese and japanese instruments but I guess there are some articulations there as well.
I had hopes that the chinese & japanese drums would include some hidden stuff (they do some round robin but the individual hits can’t be selected).
I’ve not found any way to do permanent trimming of the samples in the GB sampler but it does read the loop & key info embedded in wav files.
Imprt from Files.app and AudioShare is qute easy though.
It would he a real blast to be able to apple the guitra&bass and mic effects to the sampler track as well. The ’presets’ can be applied but without custom pedal layouts and knobs..

Yes but some features are well and truly hidden in not so obvious places lol
As far as fx automation correction goes. NS2 will take care of that and we could then import that as an audio track in GB

..GB sampler..does read the loop & key info embedded in wav files.I’ve been meaning to ask you this: I’ve noticed that the loops I import into Live Loops drift out of sync after about 30 seconds. Do you know how to embed the loop & key info to turn my loops into “Apple Loops” that stay in sync and can be time stretched? I see Apple has an “Apple Loops Utility” but I’d much rather stay in iOS.

The AppleLoop export in BM3 is still a bit buggy but I think in due time it will be fixed..
When it works properly again you can slice the loop in BM3, save as AppleLoop and do a drag'n'drop from Files.app to GarageBand. It's quite strange it used to work before but now it creates a loop that is 1/4 too long arghhh..

I recall it does (don't have it installed at the moment).
One thing that's cool with AppleLoops is that they can be dropped on any audio-track so you can process them thru GuitarAmps or the Freaky Vocal Effects

I just tried, and yes you can save out an .aiff file from BM2 that GB reads as an Apple Loop that can be time stretched. However, In the process I discovered the real reason my loops are drifting out of sync in GB. I discovered from info in BM2s sample editor that the loops I had recorded in AUM where slightly slower BPM than what AUM was set at. When I set AUMs tempo to 102, it’s actually running at 101.96. Because GB runs dead on 102 BPM, my AUM Loops drift out of sync when loaded into Live Loops. So I’ll run AUM at 102.04 BPM, problem solved.
I’m getting this message every time I leave the app and then switch back to GarageBand. I only have three loops running.
Wow what a nice track! Is that kick drum phat or what?
