  1. M-Audio Oxygen 61 IV. I’m a guitarist and after getting inspired by using keyboard on GarageBand I thought of buying a keyboard. With the iPad it is easy to.
  2. Oxygen 61 (MKIII) Oxygen 88. Axiom 61 connect to iPad Air GarageBand. But do I need the 12v power supply for the m-audio keyboard for it to work or just a power.
  3. M-Audio Oxygen 49 MKIV Keyboard. The M-Audio Oxygen series of MIDI controllers are well established and the series has continued to innovate with the MkIV range of products. They’re fairly bulky but pack extra features such as faders, pads, and other controls for your DAW.

All of this uses the usual iPad app interface tricks to get you playing - its actually pretty usable, but stick a USB Camera Connection Kit and a MIDI keyboard and things really start to hot up - we used the M-Audio Oxygen 49 - which is bus-powered and plugged and played, the Axiom 61 did not work - it threw up a “requires too much power” message - even though I had it plugged in with a.

Logic Pro X 10.2.1 or later can automatically assign knobs, sliders and other controls on certain supported MIDI devices to operate Smart Controls and transport functions in Logic.

The first time you connect a supported hardware device via USB, Logic asks if you want to have it auto-assign the controls on any compatible device that is connected.

Clicking Auto Assign will assign controls automatically so that you can use your MIDI controller to adjust Smart Controls and operate the transport if those buttons are present on the device. Clicking No skips the auto-assignment and leaves the task of assigning controls to you.

If you turn on Show Advanced Tools, you can change the setting for each device any time. Open the Preferences window (Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Preferences > MIDI Controllers). This window shows each detected device listed by Manufacturer and Model Name. Checking the Auto checkbox for a device enables the auto-assignment feature. If a device is listed, but the text is dimmed, it has been previously detected, but is not currently connected, or powered up.

Devices configured using this auto-assignment feature don’t appear in the Control Surface Setup window, but their settings will be visible in the Controller Assignments window.

If you press the Reset Warnings button in the Notifications window (Logic Pro X > Preferences > General > Notifications), the dialog appears the next time your supported devices are connected.

If you connect a supported device using USB, and Logic does not detect it, check with the manufacturer to make sure the latest firmware is installed.
